Last year, The Rectory Clinic was delighted to be part of the annual Newbury Lions Duck Race, with our clinic right on the canal giving us a front-row view of the ducks floating past.
In light of being by the canal, we ran a duck-themed colouring competition for local children. The creativity and imagination on display was fantastic! The winning entry received a brand-new electric toothbrush, while the runner-up took home a colouring set, helping children’s smiles and creativity shine long after the event.
We also had the opportunity to share the competition during our local school visits, where children were able to take part and get involved ahead of the race.
It was wonderful to see families, children, and neighbours come together to enjoy the race, and it reminded us how important it is to be part of the local community. Initiatives like this are a great way to celebrate Newbury’s community spirit, have fun, and spread a little wellness along the way.
Looking back, we loved every moment of the experience and can’t wait to be involved again this year. Seeing everyone enjoying the sunshine, cheering on the ducks, and sharing laughter made us proud to be part of such a vibrant local tradition.
Keeping smiles healthy and spirits high, one colourful duck at a time!
